Nioh studio to work on a new IP for PS5
By Paolo Sirio on February 7, 2020

Team Ninja is willing to create a brand new intellectual property for PlayStation 5 over the next few years. The developer behind franchises like Nioh and Ninja Gaiden is set to launch a new series when PS5, which is slated for the end of 2020, releases.
The statement is quite surprising considering that, a few days ago, Nioh 2‘s director Fumihiko Yasuda had revealed that the core members of the Ninja Gaiden team would be glad to work again on the IP. Maybe, there would be some news to share on that sooner rather than later.
The development team could be large enough to sustain both the return of the Ninja Gaiden and the building of a new IP. However, that will also depend on Nioh 2‘s financial performance; should it be good; it’s hard to believe that Team Ninja doesn’t get to work on a third chapter.
Big changes are coming to swords in Destiny 2
By Aidan O’Brien on Febuary 7, 2020

The way swords work in Destiny 2 will be getting a substantial rework in March’s content update.Bungie went into detail on the upcoming changes in the This Week at Bungie blog, giving us information about how the sweet science of sword-swinging will be altered.
Swords have operated the same way in Destiny ever since Crota initially swung one into your skull, so a rework has been on the cards for a while.
The one part of the community that won’t be too happy are speedrunners. Bungie has confirmed that the changes will interrupt the current sword skating techniques, a method speedrunners use to rapidly traverse the game. Hopefully, there are some new tricks they can discover to help them get those super-fast runs completed.
How it all fits in with the broader picture of Destiny 2 combat and the multitude of weapons to choose from remains to be seen, but we do look forward to trying out the new swords in March.
Tactical strategy game Corruption 2029, from Mutant Year Zero devs, dropping Feb. 17
By Aidan O’Brien on Febuary 7, 2020

The Bearded Ladies, developers of Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, has been hard at work on a new tactical strategy game. This appears to have been done in secret, too, as a trailer showing a suspiciously polished game has appeared on YouTube today, a mere ten days before release. The game will release on the Epic Games Store on Feb. 17.
Corruption 2029 will once again provide players with a tactical strategy puzzle that they need to figure out before an enemy puts a high-caliber round through them. The upcoming tactical murder simulator will put you in command of a quad of augmented soldiers as you try to overthrow the corruption that has reduced America to a war-torn wasteland.
Mutant Year Zero was highly enjoyable, so we are expecting good things from Corruption 2029. Hopefully, the game can still display some flair for writing and not be too serious, but at the moment it is looking like the emphasis will be on combat systems over anything else.
Diablo Immortal regional tests start this year, if anyone was wondering
By Bryan Lawver on Febuary 7, 2020

Diablo fans can expect to see the next installment in the long-running franchise sometime this summer. That’s right, Diablo Immortal, which infamously made its universally well-received—well, received, anyway—debut at Blizzcon 2018, is set to begin its first “regional tests” in mid-2020
.At least Blizzard certainly seemed convinced that fans would be thrilled about Diablo Immortal when they dedicated a significant amount of stage time to revealing it in November 2018. Instead, it was met with an angry, mocking, and frankly rude response from fans. Since then, Blizzard has understandably been a little less vocal about Diablo Immortal.
League of Legends players can finally get another refund token
By Julia Lee on February 6, 2020 2:28 pm

Riot Games is finally giving players more refund tokens in League of Legends.
You can check if you’re eligible for a refund token through Riot Games’ support page. Note that it seems like the max number of tokens you can hold is three, so if you already have three, you won’t get another.
Refund tokens are used to, as you’d expect, refund a purchase that you might regret. Sometimes you buy a skin you don’t end up liking, or maybe you want to refund Lee Sin for some Blue Essence because he’s too hard for you to play.
Either way, tons of players have burned through their refunds early on, but a common question from the player base has been why they don’t receive more over time or after spending a certain threshold. Riot has now answered, and while we can’t expect to get many more in the future, at least we’re getting one now.
Huge debut for Super Mario Maker 2; new Myst TV show; and more video game news.
By Thomas Wilde on July 8, 2019 at 10:28 am
Nintendo’s Super Mario Maker 2 is, unsurprisingly, already a hit. American sales charts aren’t available yet, but SMM2 was the biggest video game launch of the year in the U.K., and entered the Japanese charts at a commanding No. 1, with more than double the sales of the No. 2 game.
SMM2 debuted on the Nintendo Switch late last month, both as a physical disc and a digital release, for $59.99. Announced back in February in a Nintendo Direct online broadcast, SMM2 is primarily a construction set, meant to let users create, share, and collaborate on an endless number of custom-made levels for Mario

League of Legends

You might have heard people talking about “LOL” and thought to yourself, what on earth is that?!
Well, LOL stands for League of Legends, one of the most epic games on the planet. Report this ad
LOL is a multiplayer online battle arena video game that was heavily inspired by World of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.
As a player, you’re a “summoner” who controls a “champion” that has individual abilities.
You then battle against other players or teams and try to destroy the opposing teams “Nexus” – a structure that lies within the opposition’s base.
If you’ve never played League of Legends or even heard of it, now’s the time to give it a try. I’ll guarantee you won’t stop playing it!
Roblox

In ninth position, we have something slightly different to all the previous types of games on the list.
Let me explain…
Roblox is an online multiplayer game creation platform system, that allows users to create their own games and play games that other users have made.
Once you log in, you can see a whole host of user-generated games and virtual worlds, in a variety of different genres.
Whether you like racing games, RPG’s, simulations or obstacle course type games, Roblox will have your back.
If you’re looking for something a little different, and want to try out one of the most popular video games right now, then give Roblox a try, as it has over 100 million active monthly users, as of August 2019.
Rocket League

First released in 2015, Rocket League is a vehicular soccer video game developed and published by Psyonix.
It was originally released on Microsoft Windows and Playstation 4, and shortly after, ports were released for Xbox One, macOS, Linux and Nintendo Switch.
The general premise of the game is pretty simple, use your rocket-powered car to hit the ball into your opponents net and score points for doing so.
Each team consists of 4 players and the video game can be played both on and offline.
Rocket League is the sequel to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, which was released on the Playstation 3 in 2008.
I’ve not played this one myself, but it seems like it would be a world of fun.
Overwatch

The seventh most popular game right now is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter – Overwatch.
Developed by one of the best video game developers and publishers ever: Blizzard Entertainment, Overwatch brought in over 40 million players within its first two years.
As a player, you get to choose from a roster of over 30 different characters and you’re split into teams of six.
In your team, you work together to defend different control points and move payload across the map in limited time.
Players can also receive and collect “Cosmic rewards”, which are things like character skins and victory poses.
Overwatch is available to play on Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and Playstation 4.
Red Dead Redemption II

Red Dead Redemption II was developed and published by Rockstar Games and released in October 2018.
It’s a western-style action-adventure game that’s available to play on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
It’s the third game in the Red Dead series, following the success of Red Dead Redemption in 2010.
In the game, you play as Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang.
You’ll find yourself having to deal with the demise of the Wild West, whilst trying not to be killed by rival gang members and government officials.
It’s a pretty sick video game if you ask me, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of the most popular video games right now!
Super Smash Bros: Ultimate

Next up, we have Super Smash Bros: Ultimate.
Just like number nineteen on our list, Super Smash Bros is a cross-over fighting game that features a number of different characters, stages, music and titles from different Nintendo games.
However, this 2018 version for Nintendo Switch is succeeding the 3DS and Wii U version by a long shot.
Nintendo made public that Super Smash Bros: Ultimate was the most preordered game for the Nintendo Switch and in the SSB series.
After only four months on the market, Ultimate had sold over 13.1 million copies worldwide and is now Nintendo’s fastest-selling game of all time!
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Seige

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Seige is the fourth most popular video game right now.
There’s a good reason for that, as it’s one of those games that’s super difficult to put down and addictive as hell!
The online tactical shooter game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft.
Released in 2015; it’s available to play on Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4 & Xbox One.
As a player, you take control of either an attacker or a defender in different gameplay modes, like defusing a bomb or rescuing a hostage.
There are no real campaigns to work through, however, there are some short missions that you can play on your own.
In 2018, Rainbox Six Seige won the “Esports Title of the Year” at the Australian Games Awards.
Grand Theft Auto V

In third place, we have Grand Theft Auto V – an action-adventure video game released in 2013 by Rockstar Games.
Any of the GTA games shouldn’t really need an introduction; as I’m almost certain most people know what it is by now.
But for those who don’t, GTA is an action-adventure video game that allows you to play as a criminal, committing heists and evading government and police officials.
Its played in either a first or third-person perspective and players have the freedom to get around on foot or vehicle of their choice.
Its spot among the top three most popular video games right now has a lot to do with the fact that it’s the fastest-selling entertainment product in history.
It earnt approximately $800 million in its first day and $1 billion within three days of going on sale.
If you start playing this one, you’re going to find it hard to stop! It’s super addictive.
Fortnite

Released by Epic Games in 2017, Fortnite is an online shooter survival game.
It has three different modes that you can choose to play: Save the World, Battle Royale & Creative.
The first two game modes became the most popular choices for the majority of Fortnite players. Battle Royale draws in a whopping 125 million players in less than a year.
Fornite won the “Best Multiplayer/Competitive Game at the recent 2019 Webby Awards.
Minecraft

In first place, taking the title of the most popular video game right now is Minecraft.
This sandbox video game was created by Markus Persson and released to the public in 2011 by Mojang.
In the game, you’re able to build things with a variety of 3D building blocks and explore, gather resources, and participate in combat.
Minecraft has sold over 176 million copies across multiple platforms.
It is the best selling and most popular video game of all time!
